Working Commercial Structure Fire

On September 6th at approximately 9:10pm, Holbrook FD was activated for a reported structure fire at the Town of Islip Recycling Center on Lincoln Avenue. At the time of the alarm, multiple units were returning from an Automatic Fire Alarm. Chief Heinssen was the first to start responding, receiving information of heavy smoke coming from the structure with possible flames visible. Upon arrival, Chief Heinssen confirmed an area of the structure was on fire and transmitted a Signal 35-Working Structure Fire. Truck 10 & Engine 2 were the first arriving units, stretching hoselines & laddering the building to begin Roof Operations. Crews on scene made an aggressive push and quickly knocked down all fire.

At approximately 10:05pm, Chief Heinssen placed a Signal 4-Under Control on the alarm as all fire was extinguished and primary & secondary searches were complete. All crews were released accordingly a short time later.
