On July 6, at 21:55 hrs. Holbrook was activated for a possible explosion at the Islip Town Recycle Plant located on Lincoln Ave. Upon Arrival at scene Chief Heinssen notified dispatch of smoke showing. Immediate mutual aid was requested and over the next several hours Holbrook was assisted by the neighboring departments of Sayville, Bohemia, Lakeland and Holtsville all who contributed in the fire ground operations. Ronkonkoma Fire Department stood by at the Main house. Because of the high heat and humidity both Sayville Community and Exchange Ambulance responded to the scene to assist with rehab. A total of five members were transported to local hospitals, all were treated and released.
