The Holbrook Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire. The call was paged out as a signal 13 general alarm at American Medical Response Ambulance on McCormack Drive. After Captain Hulsen who was first on scene, reported heavy smoke bellowing out of the building and confirmed a fire the dispatcher reactivated the alarm as a signal 3, 13-35 (working structure fire). An ambulance inside the commercial garage was burning. The vehicle fire had filled the building with smoke. The Sayville Fire Department was called in for mutual aid. The call ran by Chief Joe Fannon, and 2nd Assistant Chief Richard Stack went smoothly. The fire was knocked down quickly, and the search teams swept the entire building looking for fire extention. The building was vented, and overhauled. The firefighters were on scene for almost two hours.
