Heavy Rescue - Car vs. Tree

On Sunday, October 12th at 07:11hrs, The Holbrook Fire Department was activated for a reported Motor-Vehicle Accident of a car into a tree with 1 person possibly trapped on Grundy Avenue & Mollie Blvd. Holbrook's Dispatcher immediately activated the alarm requesting Heavy Rescue to respond with Extrication Equipment. Within moments of the 9-1-1 call, LT. J. Stahl, who was on his way home from work, arrived on scene, confirming 1 patient trapped and rendering first aid. Asst. Chief Heinssen was the 2nd on-scene and assumed command. Rescue 7 quickly responded out of Headquarters and arrived on-scene with a full crew under the command of Capt. McGerty with instruction to begin set up for vehicle stabilization & patient removal. Engine 6 and Ambulance 18 soon arrived, providing necessary backup for the crews on-scene.

From the arrival on scene to transport, both crews had the patient immobilized and removed from the vehicle in under 5 minutes. The patient was transported by EMS to the nearest hospital.

At 07:32hrs, Chief Stack placed a Signal 4 - Under Control on the alarm. All units were released and placed back in service a short time later.
