Complicated Heavy Rescue

At 2225 hrs. Holbrook FD was activated for a motor vehicle accident southbound on CR97 south of Furrows Road. The operator of the vehicle had lost control and left the roadway went through the cyclone fence and stopped approximately 60 feet into the woods. Assistant Chief Heinssen was first to arrive and informed responding units that the driver would have to be extricated. The passenger of the auto had self extricated and had minor injuries. Rescue efforts were hampered by the large volume of snow, cyclone fence which had been struck and the dense wooded area where the vehicle had come to rest. Extrication from the crews of Rescue 7, Engine 5, and Engine 2 took 32 minutes from activation time. Driver was removed and transported with non-life threatening injuries. For full photos go to
