Explosion

At 0739 Holbrook dispatch began receiving numerous calls reporting an explosion and fire located at 1120 Lincoln Ave which is a scrap yard and a recycling plant. Assistant Chief Apostol arriving at scene advised responding units of an active fire and several patients. The fire was quickly knocked down and several patients were medically assessed and Town of Islip Fire Marshall was requested to the scene. Units remained on the scene for approximately one hour and scene was the released to Fire Marshall for investigation. Preliminary investigation sited possible cause for the explosion due to a recently discarded 100 lb. LPG cylinder at the location. Two patients transported to local hospital with minor injuries.
