Debris Fire turns into Daytime Brush Fire

September 1, 2015

At approximately 1:20pm on September 1st, Holbrook FD was activated for a reported brush fire in the vicinity of Burleigh Court & Singingwood Drive. Chief of Department Stack was the first unit on the road, receiving information that there was a pile of debris burning in the wooded pathway behind Singingwood Drive. Upon arrival, Brush Truck 3 investigated the wooded path as Mini-Pumpers 14 & 11 canvassed the area from the residential side. Minutes later, a large plume of smoke guided the crews to an area further down, where a large brush fire was occurring. Hose lines were quickly stretched and shovels put to work as the 9 members started knocking down the fires & digging fire lines to prevent further extension. Chief Stack quickly reactivated the alarm for additional manpower to respond. Engine 5 & EMS soon arrived to provide additional resources to the members in the woods.

At approximately 2:45pm, Chief Stack placed a Signal 4-Under Control on the alarm as all fire had been knocked down and crews had soaked the area with water. All units were released accordingly a short time later.
