HOLBROOK FIRE DEPARTMENT
SAFETY OFFICER
The role of the Safety Officers in the Holbrook Fire Department is to identify and analyze health and safety aspects that affect the Fire Department, Ambulance and other Emergency responders in both emergency and non-emergency situations. The Fire Safety Officers are appointed by the Chief. Holbrook's Safety Officers are all former line officers that are familiar with the Incident Command System, HazMat management, applicable NFPA and Federal regulations, building construction, fire behavior, as well as other fireground operations. They possess decision-making skills through recognition of clues that effect safety of the personnel. They are certified by the Fire Department Safety Officers Association (FDSOA) and have the authority to shut down any scene or fireground operation if the operation is unsafe and will cause serious injury or death to personnel.
